70 Barracuda trunk install advice
« on: August 19, 2013 - 06:38:41 PM »
Hey guys need some advice I'm at the point where I can weld my trunk pan in and I wonder what's the best way to weld it in on the ground with the weight on the wheels or jacked up like I have it and up a jack under the axle to take up some of the weight? Any advice helps thanks

I'd do it just like in your pictures--with the weight off of the springs.  Just a reminder to weld the gas tank braces on while the floor's off.  Hopefully you took lots of measurements around the tail panel before you removed it. Good luck with your project.

I agree. Wow! What a major resto!

That is going to be a ton of welding and grinding to do.
Good progress. Looking forward to seeing it as it develops.

Oops on my part I didn't think to take measurement doh just started hacking but I left the Dutchman panel installed figuring that it would be the best place to start off by centering the tail panel since its the only original panel left plus I still have the original tail panel with some of the metal left from the old trunk

When I did mine, I put everything together with sheet metal screws.  Make sure everything lines up first.  Then take off the quarters and the tail panel and start welding the trunk pan.

I would remove the word MAYBE from your sentence. You must assemble the whole rear of the car before you weld or you'll be sorry.
