Hmmm.. all that reading and discussion - but the biggest limiting factor on the old muscle was tires, was not mentioned. Seems to me to be a difficult thing extrapolating HP from MPH and ET in the quarter mile when those cars used skinny bias ply tires that absolutely would not hook. Misleading ET's and MPH when trying to plug numbers into an equation with spinning tires. We all know the muscle car numbers dropped dramatically when drag radials are used. That is what they should have used to determine true quarter mile numbers....    :2cents:

I would say that in many instances, with the 426 Hemi being one of the most famous, horsepower was understated.
