World Famous BARRELCUDA = UPDATED
« on: August 22, 2013 - 12:47:00 PM »
As most of you know, I was that guy crazy enough to restore the 1971 440+6 4spd Shaker Cuda that came to fame on the Cars-in-Barns web site almost 20 years ago...
This car was found in Newfoundland sitting on top of five barrels and featured in several magazines.

It took 3 years, 21 donor cars, and boatloads of money to restore the car back to the broadcast sheet 100%. No options added, nor subtracted...

Being a 100% "to-the-broadcast-sheet" kind of guy, I ignored everybody  that told me to add billboards and rallye wheels...
They told me it would never sell, and for a while they were right...

Never liking the magnums myself and not being able to add non-correct options to the car myself, I came up with the "Day Two" idea and added period correct aftermarket wheels...

Well in the Fall of 2011 I did sell the car to a collector in Western Canada...There it sat in his collection and didn't change one bit.....I even stopped thinking about it until the phone rang a month or so ago. It seems the car has trading hands again and is now further out West in BC....

However this time the new owner didn't hesitate to create his own version of the Barrelcuda...If only the car was originally optioned like this...

Here you go folks...Day Three :clapping:

Incredible car!  I'm a sucker for the billboards so I do like those although I liked your aftermarket wheels better than the green ones. I was never a fan for any wheels that match the cars paint.

Man I love the color!  The billboards and rubber bumpers really do change the look.
The funniest thing about this particular signature is that by the time you realize it doesn't say anything it's to late to stop reading it.

Wow, what a great job you did!!!
And I like the "period correct" wheels you put on later much more than what's on there now.

:iagree: I like the Day two look the best- not a fan of the granny wheels and caps.  :smilielol:

Nice car. I have to agree with most other and say I like Day 2 best. I do like the billboards and the rims don't bother me much, but the green bumpers don't do anything for me. Funny cause the car I just bought has black bumpers on a black car and I love them.

Either way, nice car and I'm glad you have caught up with it. Cool to see where your car has been and where it goes.

Glad to see how it looked on the barrels an then what you did to it. I saw the car years ago in the mags. You did a great job.
