What are the shock bolt sizes?
« on: August 23, 2013 - 08:36:24 AM »
I'm looking at aftermarket shocks and need to know the bolt sizes before I tear it apart. I'd like to make bushings in advance.

The rear lower mount is 11/16" but what about the rear upper and the front lower?
Thanks!

Front lowers are 7/16-14 x 2.25" lg phosphate finish grade 5
Front uppers are not eyelets so you should just use what the shocks come with.

Rear uppers are 1/2-13 X 2.75" lg phosphate
Rear Lower nuts are 1/2-20 phosphate.
The Rear lower studs aren't removable so my MMC guide doesn't have dimensions on them.

Note that the QA1 shocks come with bushings included...2 different sizes in fact.  Not sure which way you went on shock vendor.

Perfect, thanks guys!  :2thumbs:
I ordered QA1 TD801 due to my lowered ride height . I sent an e-mail to QA1 with measurements and this is what they suggested. I'll have to remove the upper t-bar and make bushings.

Lowered? I guess it is safe to assume that your car is lower now than in your signature pic?

yep, the new composite leaf springs made it sit lower. When I measured for the shocks the ones QA1 has listed for a e-body made me question if they would work due to the dimensions they had listed. So I sent them my dimentions and they suggested a different part #

I saw this post earlier, and was going too ask if the rear shocks upper require a bushing inside and are they a rubber combined with a bushing? i cannot find my old shocks and it has been 6 years since i took these off.    :clueless:

Yes they do, but they usually come with it already installed. The issue with these shocks are that they somewhat of a "universal fit" and required the correct bushings both rubber and steel in my case.

I have looked around and have found a hard time locating them. My new shocks did not come with them. I wonder if a parts store like Shucks or Napa would carry them?

What brand of shock did you get? Awhile back  I bought RCD Bilsteins and was disappointed that they didn't come with the required bushings. I made my own, but not everyone has a lathe....
QA1 has a bushing kit ? I don't know if it will work with what you have though?
