E-body mirror adjuster attachment
« on: August 23, 2013 - 07:40:53 PM »
Hey gang...
The saga continues..... I am putting the door panels in the '71 Challenger and need help/guidance because I only want to do it once.. I have the lock nut, backing plate and door panel. Of course I have the cable as well....... Now, does the backing plate fit over the cable head with the little tab point up supposedly fitting into the notch on the top side of the hole in the door panel? Neither the main nor body supplement service manual cover exterior mirror installation. I just tried and the backing plate was a pain in the [Edited by Moparts - Family Friendly Site - Keep it clean]. One of the tabs broke. Hence, I have another, but want to make darn sure I get it nice and secure so it doesn't rotate once the door panels installed.......

Thanks..
T

Thanks Alan...... Looks like I need to install and tighten to the door panel prior to final installation...... Dealing with some reproduction parts doesn't lend itself to a "perfect" fit...........

Well, it all worked out with a little patience, skill and know-how ( thanks for the reassurance Alan )....... Here's one of the accompllishments and hence a task checked off on the build-up........ Work in progress still....... Will tackle the panels and sill plates today after church or tomorrow....... Will contact Dave for another VIN Decal for the door......

In my car the adjuster rotates freely and i can pull it out of the door panel, does this mean I am missing that backing plate off mine?

Is that the correct bezel for an E-body?  I thought that one was for a B-body.
