You're forgetting the entry level price, and unfortunately that's why a lot of cool cars are NOT getting restored. The current owners think they're sitting on a gold mine and ask ridiculous prices.
It cost way more to buy a project AAR Cuda then it does a /6 Barracuda, but like you said, the restoration costs pretty much the same.

 I was only speaking of the price of restoration.  Of course the initial purchase price will vary

That's the truth.  The nuts, bolts and paint don't care what car it's put on.  Same cost.

exactly my point.  Costs the same to paint pretty much any car. Same to blast and restore a set of control arms.

Once you own the vehicle the cost will remain relatively the same assuming you have the parts. It doesnt cost any more money to have a hemi block cleaned than it does a slant 6.

and it doesn't cost anymore to wash a pinto versus a ferrari but no one here is buying an F40!
