2014 Cuda-Challenger.com Calendar Submission Rules It’s calendar time again, ladies and gentlemen. In time for Labor Day, here are the rules for submitting shots for this year's calendar competition.
This post will list image submission information and rules, and another thread has advice for taking pictures of your car; look at the bottom of this post (or any of my posts) for a link. Please comment and ask questions to your heart’s content.
1. Take a new picture of your Barracuda, ‘Cuda or Challenger. This can be an A-body Barracuda/’Cuda, an E-body Barracuda/’Cuda or Challenger, or a 2008 or newer Challenger.
• You can only submit one image per vehicle. You can submit an image of each Barracuda, ‘Cuda or Challenger you own, however.
• Make sure the long side measures at least 3000 pixels. If you're not sure how to do this, send the image to me and I'll check it.
2. The subject of the picture is your car. You have to be the owner of the car in the image(s) you submit.
• You do not have to be the photographer, only the owner of the car(s) in question.
• Do not include people in the shot, unless it’s an action shot.
3. Rules on editing the shot:
• Please don’t crop the image. If you want the final image to be cropped, either indicate how you would like it cropped or send a separate cropped image. We sometimes need all the resolution we can get, and cropping an image will reduce the pixel count, as well as throwing off the aspect ratio (and you thought that term only applied to tires, didn’t you?).
• Don’t Photoshop the shot to change the nature of the image.
o This refers to things like putting your car with the Eiffel Tower or similar tricks. If you want a shot of your car at the Eiffel Tower, ship it to Paris and take the shot
o You can correct brightness, contrast and color cast. (Don’t worry too much about this, though. Your friendly neighborhood calendar team will also be paying attention to this. On the other hand, the better your shot looks for voting, the more votes it’s likely to get.)
4. Include the following information with each submission:
• Your first name (e.g., David)
• Your cuda-challenger.com username (e.g., ChallengerHK)
• The model year of the car (e.g., 1973)
• The model of the car (e.g., Challenger)
• Any special model designations (e.g., RT, Gran Coupe)
• Your preferred month if you have one (no guarantees, but we’ll try)
Submit your picture by midnight, Sunday OCTOBER 6th, 2013 in order to enter the contest.
• I will confirm receipt of every image.
• If you do not receive a confirmation e-mail from me within 24 hours:
• First, check your spam folder
• Second, send me an e-mail asking me to verify that I have received your image
If I’m going to be unavailable to confirm receipt, I’ll post a note about when I’ll be unavailable in this thread.
5. Voting will start on Sunday OCTOBER 13th for the 13 main photos. We will have voting open for 14 days (through, Sunday OCTOBER 27th).Send submissions and/or questions to:
Rdwaryer at aol dot comI will confirm receipt of each submission, and let you know if there are any problems or potential problems with the shot. If I’m going to be away from my computer for more than a day, I’ll post such in this thread. If you haven’t heard from me within a couple of days of making a submission, send another e-mail or post a note here asking if I have your submission.
That having been said, as many of you know, I’m working in Saudi Arabia at the moment. There are times when I’m traveling for work or fun, and times when my internet connection is just not working or not working well. In particular, I’ll be flying home around 10/22/13 to renew my contract, and while I’m home I’ll be on the road a lot. Keep these things in mind.
We also need other shots for the fun stuff on each page. These items are not selected by vote, and used at the production team's discretion, but I think they really make the final product a lot nicer. For these shots we’re looking for things like:
• Vintage shots (last year Judy asked for these, but that request got out late. I for one love vintage shots and I’d like to see a bunch of them)
• Works-in-progress
• Engines
• Details
Note that it's fine to include people in these shots, especially the vintage shots. We want to see your bell bottoms and pastel tuxes
Finally, we’d also like to get information on car shows so we can list them in the calendar.
Good luck and have fun
