Just checking in. Looking back it was about a year ago I said...
...Its looking like late spring now for a complete roller.
So roll forward another year and this spring... yes, I have a good feeling that this spring will be the one to get the roller back. Anyway, its all been test fitted and final welded back together so its a solid, straight chassis again. The work is slow but it has been steady, and I'm not ready to bolt everything back on yet any way. Meanwhile, I've been restoring parts. Any one ever attempt to patch a speaker (or other large) hole and match the grain on the abs interior panels?
For plastic I've had good experience fixing cracks with a soldering iron and straightening warped tabs with a heat gun. I DID NOT have good luck with 'glazing' textured surfaces with a heat gun to restore the finish. To get it hot enough to bring back the dark plastic, you melt the surface slightly causing the sharp edges of the texture to round off making it look a little 'off'.
Thanks
Mike
