Air Conditioning Question
« on: March 31, 2005 - 07:03:47 AM »
Hi,, I am a new member. I have owned several Mopars including 4 e-bodies. I just bought a 74 Barracuda and it has A/C. Is A/C a rare option?  Thanks, Doug

Doug,
Let me be the first to say Welcome.

Also:    :worthless:

So about your question... A.C. wasn't really all that rare for E-bodies. I don't know the exact numbers.

Welcome to the board Doug!!  I don't think A/C was that rare for e-bodies either.  Would love to see your new 74!  What else do you have in the barn?

Thanks for the welcome and the answer's. I have had several Mopars over the years but have been out of the loop for awhile. I have been pursuing a racing career. Right now I work part time for a couple of NASCAR teams, 1 NEXTEL Cup and a Busch North series. After getting beat out on ebay several times I found a 74 in a yahoo group. It has a 318, bucket seat w/ console, an 8 3/4 rear and a 3 speaker dash. It's in Ms and the truck is in the guy's driveway right now. Hopefully I will see it in person this weekend. Right now in the garage we have a couple of 49 Buick's (My Father's Covt. and woodie).
Originally I was planning a HEMI clone but now my engine guy was telling me about a 360 strocker engine. So I am not sure what I want to do. But at the race shop in NC there is a new Evernham engine sitting on the floor that was down on power, it only has 794hp so we don't use it!!
Thanks again for the info and the welcome.
Doug

Awesome on the Buicks, guy. Love em. Got any pics you can post?

(If you're gonna put 800 HP in your Cuda, buy lots and lots of Loc-Tite.)

Welcome djr71, I have had numerous E-body's and about half of them had air so I agree it's not a rare option.  Again welcome and post some pics when you can..

Doug,
That doesn't look so bad at all. Hey, you have quarter panels.  :grinyes: That's a bonus right there. Was there a little damage to the driver's side front fender? It looks a little funny.

Yeah the front fender has been pushed in and the grille was removed, but it was broken anyways. I'll be hunting in Carlisle next month for both.

Welcome to the board Doug.  If you don't find all that you need at Carlisle next month you should come and join us at the all Mopar Carlisle (You should join us there either way).  There are a bunch of us going.  Check out the "Who's going to Carlisle" thread in the Shows and Drags section.

Looks like a pretty nice project car, and welcome aboard. If you put that weak discarded NASCAR engine in that Cuda you'll need more than lock tite for keeping your butt in the seat, lol. BTW, honestly, whats your impression of the "new" Charger, what actually are the "big boys" saying about it? Be honest now, lol.

Thanks for the kind words on my car. I hope to see it tomorrow. I can't tell you what the teams honestally say about the nose, that could cause problems. I was excited to race a Charger and Chrysler did an awesome job promoting it. My opinion of the car is it wasn't thought out very well. They need to smooth it out and tilt it back.
