Bracket help???
« on: August 29, 2013 - 03:41:50 PM »
I am putting together a '72 Challenger 340 with A/C. The picture below has two brackets. Is the slotted bracket the correct lower bracket for the Alternator on my engine setup?

What does the other bracket go to?  :clueless:

Thanks!

Jeff

I would say they are both the alternator brackets.   :clueless:

I would GUESS the "V" shaped bracket is for the power steering. The alternator bracket looks to be for a non-A/C application in my opinion.

Your picture (above) doesn't have A/C which makes a major difference.

Pictured below is the correct lower bracket for a 340 alternator with A/C. it mounts with the engine mount on the block.

These are the correct power steering brackets for a 72 340 with a Saginaw pump. Your "V" shaped bracket looks similar to the one in the center of the picture, but not 100% correct.
