Looking for a 1967 - 1969 Barracuda

I couldn't go to look at this car due to a sick (4 legged) pony so I sent my husband and gearhead stepson.  It looked perfect in the ad, but they both say it's even nicer in person.  I was not looking for a show car.  (The guy puts it up on jacks and waxes the gas tank after he drives it.)

Now I have to name it!

Nuh Uh!

It's MINE.  Hubby is on his way home with the title, original colored wheels and some other stuff in the back seat of the Charger R/T.  I hope he makes good time because he'll have to get a room if he gets tired.  No moving the seat back and sleeping in the car with that load. 

Gotta find a new home for either the 55 Plymouth Plaza or the 78 El Camino and find an enclosed trailer so we can go get my Brand New, 45 year old Fish! 

I did not get much sleep last night thinking about this, SO EXCITED!!!

My dad sold the only car I ever knew when I was 9.   I still miss it and have never loved another car since.  Now that I can afford to get something I WANT (not need), I'm looking to replace that 1969 Barracuda Fastback.  I'm not too picky, I know it's a 45 year old car, so anything 1967 - 1969 might do.  It needs to run good and be as reliable as possible.  I don't need a show car with matching numbers, but I do want something that looks good going down the road.  Looking to spend <$20K, but it all depends on the car.  Thanks guys, I miss my lil fishy!

The pictures of the Original 69 Barracuda was at the Army base in Germany before March 1969 (no baby, so it was before my brother was born).  The "New" 69 Barracuda is still in Minnesota but I now have the original rims and caps and build sheet and title and a bunch of receipts. 

Today is my husbands birthday so I guess I should take him out after he got me such a nice present for his birthday.  Maybe go looking at enclosed car haulers so we can bring it home.  I have no idea where to rent one and as it's all original (change tires to go to a show) he'd love for me to show it.  I've shown horses and dogs at some of the biggest shows, and cattle at some fairly big ones, but I don't have a clue about showing cars...   

I guess this is what I get for not wanting to settle for any of the other cars we looked at.  Send him to look at one on his own and end up with a lot More car than I was planning on!

Doesn't mean you have to treat it like a show car...I've hauled nicer cars than that on an open trailer...so it might get wet...half the fun of owning it will be cleaning it, no better way to get to know your car.


As for cars shows...you drive in, you pay your money....you take home a trophy...trick is to not get bent out of shape if you DON'T win a trophy...

I asked the previous owner about hauling it on an open trailer when my husband was standing there and he said that would be fine but after I hung up I guess they both decided they were afraid it would get banged up.  This has been his baby for a lot of years, and my husband stopped and bought me a California car duster, deep clean and liquid lustre before he came home.   I think he's trying to tell me something...

If the hard part at a car show is to not get upset about losing, I think I've got that licked.  At least I won't have to worry about showing my face in public after the car bolts towards the judge and him running for cover (horse show), snapping/growling when the judge squeezes his jewels a little too tight (dog show) or my car taking out 2 other cars who had been ganging up on some other entries (longhorn steer).  :-)

Why not have it shipped? There are lots of quality car hauling services that use enclosed trailers. Save you a lot of time and effort driving all the way up to Minneapolis and back. Also, you might want to check out the FABO (For A-Bodies Only) Transportation Network - there may be somebody going your way that can haul it for you. We might end up shipping it after spending half a day looking at trailers.   I need to get a 55 Plymouth Plaza to Minnesota to make room for the Barracuda.  I'm just having trouble with driving the truck up there with the Plaza and not bringing the Barracuda home.  I want it here NOW!!!

With photoshop and a pic of the new car taken from the right angle and distance, I think we could do it. It would make for some fun conversation.

Bought a trailer for the Barracuda.  Now we need to get the Plaza ready to go north and make room for the Fish.  Gonna be sad to see it go, but my stepson has been wanting to get it finished for a long time and we have not even got the chrome put back on yet (it's all in the trunk and back seat).  It will be so strange having a finished car to enjoy!

Okay, so you want me to take a picture of the new Barracuda from the same angle as the old one.  Do I need to get my mom to let me sit on her lap in the passengers seat when we do this?  I'm not so sure she'll go for that...
