brakes , brakes and more brakes!!
« on: August 31, 2013 - 07:57:38 PM »
ok, the start mbm brake kit, booster and all...problems with brakes dragging and rears locking up.....soooo we removed all upper components, bought a new manual m/c for 73-74 e-body..new proportioning valve..replumbed and installed..car stops good, straight and smooth!!..one problem solved.....but as you drive the car the brakes seem to drag...I drove about 20 miles on the highway it seems ok driving it..but it doesn't roll freely out of gear like it does cold..it takes some effort to roll it by myself..where cold it rolls freely...the front wheels are warm ,not hot ,back wheels are a little cooler...i'm having a hard time believing that new calipers are the cause....or maybe i'm paranoid!! ..lol...my driveway has a slight incline..cold the car will roll back from a stop even a slight incline..warmed up it will roll back but will stop itself at the bottom...tomm. I will do some more research to verify its the fronts or the backs...altho it does stop nice and smooth..pedal really doesn't seem any touchier after it is warm...there is free-play at the pedal...ideas??..oh yea are we having fun yet?

It could be a damaged hose as well causing the brakes to drag
