Ad on top of page?
« on: September 04, 2013 - 09:40:32 AM »
Hi guys, not sure if I never noticed it but does everyone see an ad above the cuda-challenger.com banner at the top of the page?

Just wondering.  Maybe I never noticed it but I made notice of it after I had some adware cleaned up on my computer today.

Thanks!

I always get on right above the topic start but below my avator info. I also occasionally get one as the second reply to a topic, although this is not consistent with every topic I open.

That I get. Just nothing above the banner.

I dunno, Chris... I think it's a conspiracy...sometimes I see them, sometimes I don't...  :sly:  Am I a butterfly dreaming I'm a man or am I a man dreaming I'm a butterfly...  :screwy:

Some pages I don't see an ad, some pages I do above the cuda-challenger.com banner.  Underneath it says in small letters: "Ads not by this Site".  These are not automotive ads like Year One or Roseville, they are like for poor computer performance or insurance advertisements or credit scores and other stuff.  I only get this on this site.  :dunno:

Just recently got my laptop up and running so goofy stuff is happening maybe.  I scanned for adware and should be ok but I still see ads...  :dunno:

Ok, must be my computer if no one else sees them.  :clueless:  Thanks!

I think you have a relatively benign trojan, mon ami. For what it's worth, I use Avast antivirus/anti-ad/anti-malware, and I swear by it. I can't count the number of times, with McAfee and Norton, that the software would tell me "You just downloaded a virus." Avast, stops the virus, tells me, and gives me a pop-up asking how I want to handle it.

Davey, you got it right!  :grinyes:

Last night I was thinking, "Ok, maybe my thyroid medicine is off. I'm seeing things or rather I wasn't seeing them before...  "....

Until I saw ads popping up in between listings on craigslist!  Every several ads, an ad banner popped up!

It always had the, "Ads not by this Site" printed below and to the right.

I did a google search and I went on this page and followed the instructions and no longer have the ads popping up!  :D  All of it was done for free, including the 4 programs I used.  The scan was fairly fast for each program.

Thanks for the input guys!

Using Firefox as my browser for a long time now along with Adblock+, a free add blocking add-on, and popups and many annoying adds are no issue. On the occasion that I use another browser I cannot believe how bad it can be & my PC is virus free.
