Here's the way it is............ :poopoke:

Asking $15K might seem low to some, might seem reasonable to some, might seem too darn high to some...It's all a matter of opinion.
The seller is no stranger to E Bodies, I'm sure he knows that if he wants to sell it tomorrow, he could, just drop the price $10K and it would be gone....I also think he probably knows that it's a rare car and should command a higher price.

He may find an uneducated buyer that is unaware of the cost of restoration and is willing to pay his asking price just knowing it's a "cool" car... :dunno:

There are two types of buyers for projects like these.

1st are the younger crowd that want a cool car like a Cuda to fix up and drive the wheels off of and like I said before, have no idea what they're getting into.

2nd are buyers like me that want to restore cool rare cars like these and try to sell for profit or stash away in private collection.

Problem is:
Buyer number 1 doesn't have any money, and certainly not $15K to spend on something he can't certify and drive right away...

Buyer number two is smart, done his homework, knows that if he spends $15K for an entry price on a non-matching number 383 car, he'll be so far upside down, he'll never see the sun again...

The sad truth about projects like these is that they will never get restored, in most cases the current owners have little or nothing invested, but knowing these cars can be worth "big bucks" they hold out for big bucks now while it's still a project. They themselves would likely be the only ones that could restore them and come out on top, but if they don't have the funds, they become one of those "I'm going to fix it someday" guys and the cars sit , and sit, and rot......You know the ending.

Perfect example is this V code Six Pack Charger currently on EBay for the tenth time :screwy:  http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/BARN-FIND-V-code-71-440-Six-Pack-Charger-R-T-1-98-w-Flite-SUNROOF-INCLUDED-/181215997726?pt=US_Cars_Trucks&hash=item2a3150af1e The owner has had it since the mid-70's , the car has cost him practically nothing.
I would love a shot at restoring the car, but his $40K buy it now price is ABSURD  :22yikes: The car would take another $60K to restore but only worth $70K done....
Now if his "buy it now" was $10K....the car would be sold, He'd be $10K richer, and I would be half finished the restoration the car desreves by now :pullinghair: but as it is...it will never sell. :crying:

we need a fender tag readout.

Otherwise, it's not so "rare" as alan pointed out.

What options were on this car originally?

did it have the hockey stripes originally?

I'm not installing any nonsense.

I won't even consider a car without a fender tag.
Much less if I can't see the fender tag.

There are many folks who feel the same.  Just trying to figure out why it's so "rare".

I don't collect fender tag info.  Unless it's truly a "rare" car.  Even then, not much.

So, do you have the fender tag listed anywhere else?

With a price of 15K I think the fender tag info is justified.

Without knowing what the options were, it's just a BS car. Not that rare.

Not knocking your price either.  Just curious as to what it really is.

Doesn't this give a bump anyway?  Puts your add to the top of todays posts.

Your point is understood.I have a fender tag and a buildsheet. If your seriously considering purchasing a car you make a phone call. I said"rare" but you took it out of context i said a very rare project. Which correct me if im wrong but most 70 projects are not cudas, yes there are a ton restored but this is a project. My descriptor word for the car was very unique. The tag is not listed anywhere, this is an add that is intented to get you to call if your serious. From that point i dont have a problem providing the info, but quite honestly if your not serious its not something  that should matter.

Sorry, I wasn't trying to add nonsense to your for sale ad either...I was simply trying to add some insight to the market as I see it. I actually complimented you on your knowledge of E bodies and I'm sure you know what it's worth.

You're correct in assuming that I have no interest in buying it so I just should move on... :misbehaving:

Alan,

I understand what your saying and im not holding it against you.I just get very frustrated with some people when they  make comments they should keep to themselves. I know what the car is and im asking a price. 9 out of ten times you dont sell it for that price. this is refected in asking price which is going to get me at a happy selling price. :2thumbs: I think im in line with the market, some may not, but move on if your not interested. The bottom line is that serious folks will contact your personally, especially when i leave a number for them to do so. The rest are just wasting time. Sorry for the rant but this is one thing that bugs me about these forums.

Hi HC, i am a legitimate potential buyer and have friends asking me for cars all the time, i personally took an interest to your car as i really like Burnt Orange as a color, i am also an international member and phone calls become a problem with time zones, So if you have some spare time and would not mind doing a break down of what is optioned on the `Cuda, that would help in the sale of the car, i really do not need to see what number car it was when built or any of that other parrafenalia, just the options would be great, thanks :2thumbs:
