I passed on the 350Z seats, they were in great shape, just to many electronic gadgets to go wrong, that and they were $500. I got home and researched them on the net and found they are wired to only allow some of the functions when in park etc.....
Looked like a computer under the seat!
So I spent the morning at the largest wrecking yard around here and sat in all kinds of seats, BMW's (all too tall for any e-body) Mercedes, Imports seemed to have the nicest seats? I then sat in a 2000-2001? Hyundai Tiburon and ya know they felt REAL good. Better than the 350Z seats even!
They are super low to the floor and manual adjustable, in addition to the usual stuff they have a knob the tilts the lower seat bottom only and this really cool adjustable lever that bulges out to support my lower back! They are black leather/vinyl? Pretty lightweight too, and the best part is when I asked how much the dude said $35 each if I take them out!
So I bought 4 seats from 2 different cars!
Heck at that price I'll see about getting them re upholstered to try and match the stock 1970 seats! ( and have a spare set to boot!)
I'll get some pictures when I get them cleaned up and build the mounting brackets.
I'm still not 100% sure I want to go away from the stock look , but they are really uncomfortable! ( to me anyhow?) and its just 8 bolts to go back to the originals
Funny I haven't spent much time in a wrecking yard in years ( other than to visit a buddy that owns one). I used to go just about weekly when I was in my 20's just to see what cool stuff was around. Engines, cool cars etc..... Now nothing seems to interest me there anymore, not into FWD crap! BUT...today I had a fun day poking around the junkyard again!!
