Omni seats you mean? None of them around here , crushed  long ago. My Wife had one of those when we were dating . Worst car ever, spent more time fixing it than driving it. Don't recall the seats being anything special as far as comfort?

I passed on the 350Z seats, they were in great shape, just to many electronic gadgets to go wrong, that and they were $500. I got home and researched them on the net and found they are wired to only allow some of the functions  when in park etc.....
Looked like a computer under the seat!  :screwy: :walkaway:

So I spent the morning at the largest wrecking yard around here and sat in all kinds of seats, BMW's (all too tall for any e-body) Mercedes, Imports seemed to have the nicest seats?  I then sat in a 2000-2001? Hyundai Tiburon and ya know they felt REAL good.  Better than the 350Z seats even! :2thumbs: They are super low to the floor and manual adjustable, in addition to the usual stuff they have a knob the tilts the lower seat bottom only and this really cool adjustable lever that bulges out to support my lower back! They are black leather/vinyl? Pretty lightweight too, and the best part is when I asked how much the dude said  $35 each if I take them out!   So I bought 4 seats from 2 different cars!  :bananasmi  Heck at that price I'll see about getting them re upholstered to try and match the stock 1970 seats! ( and have a spare set to boot!)  :clapping:
I'll get some pictures when I get them cleaned up and build the mounting brackets.
I'm still not 100% sure I want to go away from the stock look , but they are really uncomfortable! ( to me anyhow?)  and its just 8 bolts to go back to the originals
Funny I haven't spent much time in a wrecking yard in years ( other than to visit a buddy that owns one). I used to go just about weekly when I was in my 20's just to see what cool stuff was around. Engines, cool cars etc..... Now nothing seems to interest me there anymore, not into FWD crap! BUT...today I had a fun day poking around  the junkyard again!!

Brad, same deal would like to see them.

Better seats are on my list as well.  If I could find a pair for that prices I would do it too!!!  Looks like I need to go out and hit the local yeard befor the cold sets in.

Are you doing anything about the air bags?

I figured just cut the plug off and shrink wrap the wires and tape them up?  :dunno:  Any other suggestions?

Brad -- regarding the brackets, I suggest that you adapt the factory Challenger floor mounts/glides... that's what I've done for different seats that I've used.... simple to make using some 1/8" thick x 1" wide steel (or aluminum for lighter-weight savings) strips that can be purchased at the local hardware stores, as well as determining the required bolts/nuts, etc.
Autocross/road racers go in deeper... and come out harder!

I've already got the material to make my own brackets . Not hard/expencive to do. I played around a bit today with the seats. I removed the Tiburon floor mounts from the slider assembly. They are just riveted on. I then sat the seat in the car after removing the stock seat. I'll take this opportunity to move them back as well as possibly a little lower. I'm 6'1" and always cramped up after long rides. I just placed the seat on the floor with a block of wood to level it and funny it felt real good about 4" further back than stock. Touching the rear seat actually!  ( long legs!)  I'll still be able to slide the seat forward about 7" when I'm done. I very rarely have rear passengers anyhow.    As a added benefit it should help with the rear weight percentages too! :naughty: I have my own scales and will check the difference when I'm all done.

Brad

You always seem to lead the way, I've been to several shows and seem some nice seats and it got me to thinking as I'm taller than you that at some point I'll want to be a bit more comfortable.

If you mount the new seats I'd love to see a pic of them in your Challenger.

I'll be sure and take some pictures as I go. Right now I'm sidetracked and my bandsaw decided to crap out striped the worm gear in the gear box so I have that all in pieces at the moment.  ::)
