It's an easy swap to do. Aside from the floor pan hump and the Z-bar pivot every thing is just bolt on. And those two parts are available as a repro. I did mine and had no problems at all. Driving a 4 speed as opposed to an automatic is a personal preference. The thing that is not in dispute is the WOW factor you get with the 4 speed. People look at the interior and don't even notice the auto. With the 4 speed they look twice. Personally I would not go the pistol grip auto route. I did that too and it's just a gray area where it doesn't go either way vary well. Just my two cents from experience.

Having just done the swap, I say go for it. I had a slap-stik and it was fun to manually shift the gears, but nowhere near as much fun as rowing the gears in a manual. I bought the complete kit from brewers, total cost was $4300. Everything went together perfect and the trannie shifts like new. This car with the 440 is so fun to drive now. My car isn't a #'s car anyhow, so I don't think I hurt its value at all. Matter fact, since this conversion was done by a pro (not me), I think it raised the value of my car. You would never know it was an auto if I didn't tell you. Just having that pistol grip is as cool as it gets.
