I am sure you could drill holes closer to the pivot or use stock levers

Ok The scoop is Jaimie ran into shifter rod supply for whatever reason. He told me 2 days ago to hang tight as things are closing in for finalization so I await that moment. The levers are way longer than the original set ups and drilling the levers are out as they are harder than the knobs of hell and I don't want to compromise what Jaimie has strived to perfect. The gearbox uses 75-90 full synthetic sure grip type oil. There is no bearing and gear noise when this is running even with the dust boot not installed where the lever goes. It is going to be one quiet tranny. The clutch plate sitting on the spline in the pics was simply to do what everyone installing a manual should do and that was to ensure that the plate slid along the spline easy which makes the plate move away from the pressure plate or flywheel when the clutch is depressed to ensure no grabbing occurs. Otherwise This will cause the gears hard to select if the engine is running. Like I have stated earlier this gearbox is a non issue to install so the pictures simply prove it goes in like an A833. The only difference, of course, is the speedo cable heading out to the right side but the cable Jaimie provides in the kit is easily routed back under the tranny and then takes the standard routing to the speedo. You remove your original cable. Once I get the rods and shifter it takes 1/2 hour to install the shifter and rods then a road report. Until then enjoy the pics and remember the wait to get on the list now is at least 6 months if everyone presently on the list takes their option when they are called.

Neil  the new levers are one bolt size larger on the shifter shafts that protrude from the tranny. Jaimie has gone heavy duty on this thing. I even looked through the speedo adapter hole before installing it, and the 5th gear that I could see looks like it could work in a semi for a while. Tough looking and I believe all the beta testing proved there were no failures. One guy running a 650+HP dart twisted the body under the seat with the take off on the strip. No gear failure.

I've added holes with just a carbide tipped cutter and a die grinder. You just sneak up on the final size. Had to do it because my shifter was bottoming before the gear was all the way engaged.  This happens when you piece together 4-speed stuff from other models.

Update: Jaimie has shipped my gear shifter and rods so if they arrive before the weekend then I will install and go for a final drive before putting it away for the winter. If that happens I will post a report on the feel of this Passon unit.
Took a look on Moparts and he is gearing up to start shipping units out.

I saw that on Moparts.  Everyone sent out brings me one more unit closer to getting mine.  :2thumbs:

Ok. So far I have the gear shifter on and the 1-2 rod installed. One thing for sure is with the stock 5-R rod you cannot have an x-pipe exhaust unless you modify the rod that Jaimie provides. It's raining like hell today but will take pictures once complete and post. I will jury rig up and old shifter rod to see what is required to do that modification.

Ok. Took the car for a drive in the pouring rain. No salt or gravel yet so only fresh water.

If I had one word to describe this Passon gearbox it would be - fantastic. Was very hard to get used to about a 3-4" gear lever throw from 1-2 or 3-4. Selecting reverse is like a non-event and only the reverse light indicates I am in that gear. Of course the gearbox is a little stiff from being new but the speed at which it will shift is so fast it is hard to keep up with the clutch pedal. The driveline is a lot less noisy with this new design Jaimie has done and a lot smoother. Don't know what else to say but I will summarize and say that the car has a more modern feel to it now with this A855 5 speed. I highly recommend this product to others now that Jaimie is delivering to customers.

I may be able to go for one more drive as today the weather man is being good. If there is sand or gravel on the road forget it. The shifter is quite stiff so right now one has to think about the gear position. Especially going from 5 back to 4. As soon as my wayward son, who has been in NZ doing comm pilot training for 2-1/2 years, gets his GTi off my hoist I have to do a clutch adjustment then maybe one more drive.

I see the X pipe comment.  Admittedly, we did not test on vehicles with X pipes.  Sorry about that.  There comes a point though, that we can only do sooo much to make it fit as many applications as possible.

Hey Jamie
Thanks so much for developing this trans , we have been waiting since 64 for this , definatly not an easy path the engineer a transmission like this & make it a true bolt in , it would seem to be the ultimate OD manual trans available with the bonus of nut having to section the floor & crossmembers to make it all fit . I hope the success follows after all the hard work . :2thumbs:

Chryco, thanks for the kind words.  It means a lot at this time.  I have really been run through the mill by some people throughout this whole thing!
