New Member 71 Cuda
« on: September 11, 2013 - 02:36:30 PM »
Just wanted to say hey to everyone. Been reading the boards for a while and decided to introduce myself and my car. My name is Shane and my car is a 71 340 4spd. Been messing with Mopars since the mid 80's. I'm a HUGE 340 fan.

Thanks for the compliments!
The motor is a 340 .30 over balanced with Edlebrock heads and RPM air gap intake topped off with a Quick Fuel 750 double pumper. Cam is a hydraulic Comp Cam. Big Mutha Thumpr. Great running and awesome sounding cam. It raps like a roller motor. Bap Bap! Ignition is a Mopar conversion kit that I locked the timing on and switched to the chrome box. Car wouldn't pull worth a damn with the orange box. I tried different cams and carbs because I knew it should run better than it did. I finally switch to the chrome box and it changed into ass ripper. I never could get the timing set right with the orange box either. I would end up with 65 degrees total with the orange box. (crazy and impossible I know) But that's how it was! With the chrome box it sits at 35 degrees total. Starts and runs perfect. Just touch the key and it pops right off. I had to lock the advance in the distributor because the car would surge at cruising speeds. That corrected the problem.

It's a 4 speed car with a Centerforce dual friction clutch. Centerforce steel billet flywheel and throwout bearing.

The car was a matching numbers car when I got it. I pulled the original motor to preserve it and built another 71 340 to beat on. Depending on what I'm doing I switch between a 3:91 and a 3:23 rear gear. The car came with heavy duty drums all the way around. I rebuilt the rear brakes and put Wilwood disc on the front. Manual brakes. Car has manual steering also.
I put the complete TTI exhaust system on including headers with Flowmaster mufflers.

Here's the fender tag.

Nice car. What flowmaster muffs are you running? I called TTi before and they had told me that flowmasters would not fit their system.

The original 40 series. I tried the 50 series first but they were to long and wouldn't fit. The 40's fit perfect. The system sounds awesome with the x pipe and their cast tips. IMO

Thanks for the info. I have a TTi system and hate the dynamax muffs that come with it. Just to much drone!
