Which direction do you unlock the ring on the fuel sending unit

Trying to remove a fuel sending unit in a 71 challenger.  Which direction do you turn the locking ring to unlock.  I have been trying to go clock wise but the tab is just tearing off.

CCW , you should see a ramp on one side leading to a notch in the ring you want to go down the ramp not over it , soak it wil silicone spray so it will side too

I'll give that a try.  I thought I was going down the ramp trying to go clockwise.  I was using the biggest hammer I have.   I think the silcone might help no matter what.

If you look closely, you will see the tabs that stop it from going any further CW so you have to go CCW
