If you installed new sail panels with the headliner there should be a small indentation on the back side of the sail panel, I am gonna say about 1 inch from the top edge and about 1/3 of the way back starting from the front (the screw for the hanger goes through the top edge of the panel) that will give you a general idea of where they go. If not, you can feel through the headliner (with the sail panels removed)with your fingers, that particular screw hole feels like a horse shoe because that is also where the sheet metal will meet. If this does not help post and I will get you a picture tomorrow when I get home.

Thanks for the info Ray.

I would like to avoid removing/mess with again my sail panels if possible.
Could you show a pic with a measuring tape next to it?

Thanks

TIP: Before the headliner goes in...put all the screws back in the holes for things like the coat hook, sun visors, mirror etc....
The just feel around with your finger then poke the headliner with your phillips screwdriver and remove the screws. Seat bolt bolts too !

I just realized that I took these numbers from a cuda.
Not sure if it is different from a challenger.
If I had one, I'd go get the numbers.

What is that yellow tinged plastic thingy on the crew.   I dont/, didnt see one when I removed my sail panel:  Is that a support for the hook?

If so, Looks like Ill need a couple   Are they available aftermarket   If not,  Ill look into fabbing  some

What year are you working on ? 1970-72 had a two part hook, the later years just had a screw going right through the hook itself.

Well in 71 you should have a two part hook...The white plastic support that screws to the car and the the soft vinyl/rubber hook cover... :2cents:

I cant seem to find the plastic inserts for the 71 type hooks

Search looks like no one makes them   Im considering going to the 72 later ones  if I cant find the inserts for the 71 Styles

Most likely, the 71 inserts ones I had broke off on removal and I just threw them away not knowing the deal.  I consideirng just making a couple out of small plastci block and a dremel tool
