I am glad the families will get some closure.....i can't imagin waiting 40+ years to find out what happened to someone you loved.

Since I live in Oklahoma City, I've seen it many times on local news channels.
It is sad and hopefully closure will come their loved ones.
The cars looked pretty bad shape as I was checking out the camero. very low miles and all 100% original I'm sure, but 40+ years under water took it's toll.
It's amazing they weren't found many years ago with the droughts we've had.

It's tragic indeed. There must be some connection as far as the way that the cars ended up in the bottom, such as a sharp curve in the road or steep embankment near the lake edge where a car could go off and end up in the lake? It must be a deep lake to completely cover the cars from view. And it's puzzling that there were (at the time of the accident) no signs of debris, skid marks, torn up road, busted guard rail, broken trees, shrubs or no personal effects floating in the lake?? Kinda strange!  I'd be interested to know how these vehicles both ended up in the lake!

Saw a similar story about two months ago about two ladies who got lost in the woods, saved by a ranger only to drive into a lake and drown.

Same kinda deal, road turns into a boat launch, inexperienced drivers drive into lake car floats awile till it sinks and driver/ passengers cant get out because the windows won't roll down from the pressure on the windows

I read this one as well....One thing I couldn't understand about the story...The ladies didn't think about rolling down the windows or opening the doors, YET they had time to use their cell phone to dial 911 ... You would think that in that situation, the only thing I'd want to use my cell for would be to break the window if I couldn't roll it down... hi...yes...ah...it seems we've driven into a large body of water....what should we do?....

It's understandable that when a car is submerged and the cabin is still filled with air and the car is surrounded with water that it is virtually impossible to open the door because of the differential pressure. Once the cabin is filled with water the door can be easily opened, BUT rolling a window down is a different dynamic and should be easily done. Mythbusters did a segment about this. But also when in a panic it's no telling what someone might or might not do like something a simple as rolling down a window. Sad story!

I saw this too hopefully family members can get some answers and closure after all this time. As far as the Camaro goes it must have been practically brand new when it went in the water, nothing left of it now. I wonder if foul play was involved,seems like it to me? I doubt either car had power windows 7 bodies in 2 cars you would think one of them would have had the sense to roll down a window and get out if they could?
Just last week a woman in her 50`s drove into a lake in my town, luckily for her a civilian and a police officer were around to save her. She was in 6-8 ft of murky water and around 75 ft into the lake one of them felt her hand sticking out the window and yanked her out of the car!
