70 dashpad whether it's a challenger or cuda has scripture ie: Barracuda, Challenger embossed right onto the pad.

Whereas in 71' and on up it was a framed plastic insert with the name Barracuda or Challenger.

Not sure about a barracuda, but with a Challenger, the lower dash plastic pieces will not match up though. You need '70 plastic to match up with a '70 pad. '71-74 plastic to match up with a 71-74 pad.

Never heard the yrs wouldn't swap, I remember trading a 70 Challenger pad to my friend for a 440-6 manifold.
He put it in his 71 Cuda, look great even with the Challenger script.

Appearance wise yes, fitment wise no, all the parts fit the same. :2cents:

So if you have a 1970 challenger with a 1971 dash pad (challenger emblem not script) and the VIN plate matches the car, so some put the original VIN tag on the 1971 dash?

If you have a 70 Challenger with the correct VIN tag on the dash yet the pad is a 1971-74 style pad, YES your pad has been changed at some point.

They will fit and mount up properly, but the plastic trim pieces will not match up with the dash.
