New here!
« on: September 25, 2013 - 12:30:14 PM »
Hi,

New member here. Just bought my first classic, a '72 Challenger.

About me: Swedish guy, 35 yrs old living in northern Sweden. Been on the lookout for a nice classic for quite a while, both in Europe and in the US. Finally found a beauty here in Sweden.

My car: 1972 Dodge Challenger in a fantastic original condition. The guy who I bought it from bought it from the original owner who bought it in LA back in '72. The guy who imported earlier this year had to get rid of it pretty much after it arrived to Sweden. Luckily for me :)

I'm gonna blog about what I'm up to with the car, be sure to check it out  :feedback:

Thanks!

I have the 74 manual, depending on what you need they might be the same.  You can get a 72 one off ebay pretty cheap (< $50 for both books)

Congrats on having a clean Challenger! Worth travelling across the country to pick up such a nice car. What engine is there?  :)

I'm sorry I don't have the PDF you're searching, but here is a link to most part numbers for your car. It's always nice to look up the numbers while searching parts. http://www.restomania.net/

Good look with your blog, too!

Thanks for the warm welcome!

It's (only) the original 318 in it, but that's enough for me...at least for now :)

Regarding the service manual, I actually ordered a new one on eBay, paid $70 for it. Funny thing though, the shipping to Europe was another $70 :)
I'm pretty sure I'll get good use of it so it's worth it!

Welcome to the site.  Nice challenger!  My friend had a '72 barracuda the same color as yours, but it had a white top and white interior.
What are your plans with your new toy?

The car's actually in a real nice condition as is, all original apart from the interior that's been renovated and the new vinyl top. So, there's nothing that absolutely has to be taken care of right away.

I know it's not a muscle monster, but the stock exhaust sounds a little too weak so I'm planning on changing this so something sounding a little meaner :)
I'm thinking about getting this http://www.magnaflow.com/02product/displayapplications.asp?partnumber=15851

I have that system installed in my car. I'm happy with it, not to bad cruising, but gets louder when your on the throttle! Just what I wanted  :2thumbs:
I went with the service manual on CD . Benefits are you can print off what you need take it out to the car , get it dirty, write notes on it etc.... then print off another if you wish. I also printed off the wiring drawings and keep a copy in the glove box just in case of a roadside emergency?

Cool, then I'll go ahead and order it! I found a pretty good deal on it which makes the decision easier :)
