MPDLAWDOG -- Nice work and project! My T/A is actually a 72 318 Rally car... converted to a 70 T/A back in the late '70s.... grille, rear tail light panel, side marker lights (cut/grafted ~6"x10" panels), etc. I did it solely for SCCA Solo II race class rules (at first for F/Stock class, and later I changed over the E/Street Prepared class where I have remained and highly competitive); I originally bought the car as a daily driver while in college (mid-'70s), but quickly discovered and got hooked on the autocross racing.. and made my intention to become serious with the sport.. with the Challenger (Mopar or No Car!)... and realized that it HAD to become a T/A to be nationally competitive... which I did (my best friend is a master body shop worker/painter - he helped me tremendously... and he's a Mopar guy! There's lots of Shelbys, Z28, etc which are not actually factory cars.. just clones.... and... WE keep up their images and reputations of their heritage .. while the originals stay under cover and not driven or raced, etc. Driving/racing the cars is so much more fun!!! instead of just sitting and showing.
You probably know that the Hotchkis T/A is not a factory T/A... they just added the T/A hood, spoilers and stripes/decals (was a 318 car?)... I applaud them for campaigning the car... and truly racing it!
