anyone interested in textured argent silver paint?
« on: September 27, 2013 - 02:29:11 PM »
I've been looking for the textured argent silver paint for my rocker moldings. I found a Dupli-color Textured Metallic coating MX-102 silver at the local Napa store. It looks and feels great. I painted the grill with the correct paint I got from YearOne about 15 years ago and this paint looks so close you would never know unless you held the parts side by side, and even then maybe not. And it's only $9.95 a can.

Thanks.  My tail panel could use a refresh.

We used the same stuff on the grill, rocker moldings and a couple of rally wheel caps of our Cuda.  What we did differently was to top it with the Dupli-Color silver wheel paint.  That adds a little more sparkle to it plus it makes it a little glossier  so it isn't so rough and scratchy that it grabs the lint off of the rags.  The wheel paint comes in two colors, graphite and silver.  The picture shows the graphite color on a Challenger grill.  It's also a nice paint combo for the '71-on rally caps.  Since the paints are from the same family, they are compatible, so you can spray the wheel paint immediately over the textured paint.  Another thought: for maximum texture, do repeated dry coats (quick sprays from a distance).
