FINALLY, a clean run down the track with my Challenger

Just had to post, for a little back story I had bought a 499 ci engine from a member on here a few years back.
After some personal delays and a faulty fuel delivery system I finally got a good run out at the test and tune last night.

12.9 @113 - that beat what I thought I'd do.
The Challenger is a full street car with a 4 speed.
What a blast... too bad I didn't expect to make that good of a run and now I need to get a little more safety gear before the next run.
I didn't even bring a helmet!

What kind of tires, what RPM did you launch?

I amazingly enough got a decent 60' for my hockey puck street radial tires.
They are Firestone Indy 500's and they are pretty hard, the 1st time I had it out I sent them in a spin thinking at the track I would have a little more bite. Definitely can't "dump" the clutch with them ( or any street tire for that matter )
To sound like a complete rookie I was so nervous about blowing the tires off at the start line I did the launch by feel.
Didn't look at my tach or anything, just feathered it out.
The last time I had the car out, I had a fuel starvation problem, spun through 1st and ran the carb empty by the top of 2nd.
Not a good outing.
So I thought I'd get out there and try for the 13's and work from there.
Well like said I ran out of the box better than expected and need a driveshaft loop & helmet at the very least.

PS... thanks for not laughing at my reaction time guys, that was terrible!

Agreed.
Traction will pull your mph back to 112 which gives you a potential 11.8 seconds.

Edit: actually after re-reading your timecard your 60fts show 1.9 whereas you should be around 1.6 which means with traction you'll pick up abt 0.3 on your 60ft which will mean abt 0.45 off your ET.
So there's still half a second or so missing.Maybe a bit slow on the gear changes or less than ideal rear gear?

Yeah, I have a bit of the fever now 

The immediate thoughts are of tightening the car up & getting some traction.
This past year we had some disappointing experiences at a couple of car shows, so hitting the track has been a fun alternative.

My rear gears are 3:55, and yeah I was probably a little less than perfect on the gear changes.

It's getting cold here now and the local tracks are wrapping up this weekend.... time to get the garage heater out & start wrenching!

I am glad you are still having fun with it , try some nitto drag radials ,clamp the front 1/2 of the leaf springs or add some 1/2 leafs & clamp it

 The better my 60ft is the more mph I get. I run MT street radials. Lots left in you car for sure.
