I think you're asking two different questions. "What's it worth ?" and "What will someone pay for it ?"
Two different answers....
It's one of the nicest looking 71 Cuda convertibles currently on the market, however being priced in the six figure range you have a very narrow buying market for this type of car.
First you have the serious Mopar collector who invests his money in the rarest of the rare.....He's not going to touch this one with a ten foot pole because of all the changes listed earlier. He wants correct numbers matching, restored properly, cars only.
Then you have the disposably income guys, who just really like the look of the car and want to actually cruise around and show it off. Knowing a little bit about the values of the car he knows he doesn't want a clone, but rather an original car. He doesn't have the patience to wait for 100% correct car he likes, and doesn't really care...just wants a cool ride that won't depreciate over night.
This car is being aimed at buyer number two....The dealer thinks they can ask the moon for it figuring somebody will step up because it's such a beautiful car....however they're quickly learning that their intended market is really small.
So with that being said....I do think the value is under $100K for sure, but based on the car's looks, there will be a buyer somewhere to give the dealer their asking price. I would say that the best price from the dealer you can get will be the car's purchase value.
From an investment view point, is this car worth it ? Heck no, not the worst investment Cuda convertible, but certainly not the best.
From a purchase view point, is this car worth it ? Sure is if you got the money to spend, you won't find a nicer looking 71 Cuda convertible in my opinion.
