Bluish mark on pressure plate is it ok

Got a new clutch setup with kelvar disc.  Slipped from day one.  Said it needed to break in.  Needless to say it just broke.  Had to replace it.  They refused to refund for it.  Went and got a dual clutch setup.  Anyway I thought I would sell the pressure plate to recoup some money if it is any good.  Got a spot about 6" on it that is blue I guess from overheating.  Is this thing worthless at this point.  The seller said it must have glazed on the pressure plate and disc.  Should I just throw it away? :22yikes: :working:

Sounds like it got overheated from the clutch slipping. If the clutch was slipping and burned up, that tells me that the pressure plate probably wasn't doing its job of applying enough force to the clutch plate to keep it from slipping.

However, assuming that the pressure plate was providing adequate pressure and something else caused the problem (oil leak, warped flywheel, etc), I would think you could take it to a machine shop and have them resurface the face for you to remove the "glaze" and to ensure that the surface is truly flat like you would with a flywheel.

No all brand new set.  It's kelvar disc and seller says it has resins that have to heat up and cool down over 500 miles then it will grab.  Didn't happen like that.  It slipped from day one.  My question is Is the pressure plate anygood or has the over heating ruined it?

Why did you go with the Kevlar Clutch?

 One thing to not about different disk material is the amount of forgiveness that each provides.  A clutch that is the "Almightly - Holy Crap-Grab Instantly" disk will chatter, make noise and can be very harsh to the drive train by constantly shocking the system.  The 5.0 mustang guys are notorious for using this stuff and some have good, others destroy parts.

Got it from American Power train.  I believe it was a center force.  Had a professional shop install.  Slipped from day one until I bought another.  Wasted 500 to 600 bucks.  They won't refund.  Not there problem.  Said I had to much power.  Also bought a 5 speed tko.  It has brought nothing but frustration.  The clutch that came with it was off center and vibrated like crazy.  Yes the disk center was off.  The pressure plate hole in the center was to small.  And not knowing much about this that is supposed to be tight.  Got it started on the end of the crank and put impact drive to the bolts.  Mushroomed the hole.  This was on a 440source stroker kit.  They say the end of the crank is stock size and power train says hole in pressure plate right size.  They did sell me another at a reduced cost.  Spent a year at least trying to get this car to run right.  Still vibrates.  So I thought maybe I could sell this pressure plate but I never heard anything for a week or two and just threw out.  Ever since I put this 5 speed in nothing but problems.  And nobody really knows what to do to fix it.  Have been to several different shops with expeirenced mechanics and have got some improvment.  I have had this trans for about 4 years.  All I have done is drive the car from one shop to the next where it sits for months while they try to figure out what to do.  Bought a new engine, rear end all new motor mounts, rebuilt the supension.    Keep figuring if everythin is new it's got to work.  I have grown very tired of trying to get this car work.  I am about ready to just take to the crusher.

I will not use a C Force in anything , they remind me of GM where  most of the $$ are spent on advertising not engineering , I have yet to have a good experience with their junk & spent a lot of time removing their clutches & replacing them with McLeod  because of issues with their clutches .
 IMO you know what you need to do, if reversing the shims does not help  , the conversion has never been right from day one so remove the conversion sell it off & go back to what you know works , the 833 OD is cheap to buy bolts right in & work great with minor linkage modification or get on the list for Passons 855
