painted grills on a 71 cuda
« on: October 02, 2013 - 10:54:54 PM »
Im at the point where im going to be painting lots of my parts for my 71 cuda. The car is black with a red interior and billboards. Im not sure if I want to paint the grill of leave it correct? Maybe paint the grill and leave the inserts silver or blackout the whole thing. Does anyone have pictures of these three combos on a black car? Thanks

I plan to paint mine black as well.
For some reason, I like the front grill to match the rest of the body color while leaving the inserts silver and chrome original.
Here is what I'm shooting for.

If painting the grill body colour, be sure to spend a few dollars for new chrome headlight rings, otherwise it won't look correct with painted ones. :2cents:

Definitely black.  Looks better IMHO.  Black with the silver inserts and chrome rings.

And...black valance insert.

Sure, it's not correct, but looks awesome and how it should look.  Can always spray it argent later.

Im guessing painting it all one color would be too much black?

Paint out the 6 center vents properly and put chrome headlight trim rings on and the rest Balck, then it would not look too much, You could always paint the lower grille in a argent silver to break the colour of the front up a little if you liked. :2thumbs:

Im just getting all my extra parts ready for paint. I opened my new grille and have a question.  Im painting the grille black and the inserts will be grey. What's the correct paint or color for this? Also the cheese grater grille inserts are black. Do they get painted the same grey? Thanks
