1970 vs 1971 cuda headlight bracket mounting
« on: October 02, 2013 - 11:21:32 PM »
Hello all!  I have a question about 1970 and 1971 cuda fenders.  Me and a buddy of mine are looking at building a cuda and having 71 fenders with the gills and a 1970 (2) headlight grill.  The question is:  will 1970 (single) headlight brackets mount up to 1971 fenders?  Are the mounting holes the same?

Any and all input on this would be greatly appreciated!  If anyone has pictures, that would be even better, but don't necessarily have to have them.

Thank you!

Not the same. The headlight buckets in the front of the fenders are different. I know when converting from 70 to 71 they definitely need to be changed over but I've never thought about putting a 70 setup in 71 fenders so not sure if that could be done easily or not.

As far as I know the headlight buckets and brackets are just bolt in. I had 71 buckets in 72 fenders without an issue so it shouldn't be a problem bolting 70 buckets in 71 fenders.

Can't speak for a '71, but, on a '70, the bucket is spot welded to a flat piece behind it and that piece is spot welded onto the fender.
