Do you need to brace this area before cutting out the old support? thanks

There goes a VIN stamping.
I thought that stamp was on the upper support?

VIN stamp is on the upper support.

I didn't add any additional bracing when I R&R'd the lower brace on my Challenger. However, the upper brace and inner fenders were intact when I did that. If those were not there I think I would have added bracing to keep things square.

Shouldn't need any bracing. Take some very accurate measurements of where the lwr tie bar goes in and make sure they match before you weld the new one in. The K-frame holds the rails pretty solidly as it is. Good luck.
