1970 Cuda Hood Pins and Lanyards Questions
« on: October 08, 2013 - 02:39:29 PM »
Hey guys, I'm looking for a hood pin and lanyard kit for my 1970 Cuda.  What is the correct lanyard length I should be looking for?  Also, where is a good place to buy this kit?  -Thanks

Year One has them. The Challenger lanyards are 18". I'm not sure if you need a 23" or 25" lanyard.    :dunno:

I don't remember exactly what size it was but I do remember it was the middle one . . . So if they come in 18, 23 & 25 . . . I agree it is 23!

I picked up the hood pin kit from Dales Cuda shop, they were responsive and quick . I had the kit at my door in two days after ordering it and I did not pay priority shipping.

So I have another question on these hood pins.  The original hood that came with the car was long gone before I bought the car.  The one that is on the car now does not have the holes for the hood pins, so I will need to drill the holes.  I believe I can use the structural frame indent on the back side of the hood as a reference to know where to drill the hood pin hole but what I am not sure about is what size the diameter of the hole needs to be.

Can someone supply the diameter of the hood pin hole?  Also, if anyone has had to drill these holes in their hood before any advice or tips would be appreciated.   -Thanks

Do you have the correct "Hood Pin Mounting" brackets ?
Cudas use a seperate bracket to mount the pin which no other Mopars use.

Yes, I do.  As a matter of fact I actually have the original hood pins, but unfortunately all the other hardware is missing hence having to order a new kit.  The original pins would need to be re-chromed if I wanted to use them so at this point they will stay in the box in the attic.  :)
