Ahhhhh.....man
« on: October 08, 2013 - 11:16:34 PM »
good thing I like working on cars, because I had to take the day off of work today to work on my DD.

I went out Monday to do the breaks on my DD 2002 Saturn SC.

Of curse that did not go smoothly, did drivers side first, no prob, pass side, got the brakes off, and the wheel bearing was so bad that you could wiggle the whole hub, by hand.

I knew it was going, but had no idea it was that bad.

SO off to the parts store to by the repair kit, by the time I got back it was to late to disassemble the rest.

Today I got the rest apart, off to a shop to have the bearing and hub R and R.

While disassembling the  pass side, I noted the tie rod end was really bad, so off to by those.

The pass side went together of, but the drive side tie rod end will not come off.  We had a few appointments today so, I did not get to much time this afternoon to work on it.

Looks like I will need to spend some time on that tomorrow, then off for an alignment.

Good think we have three cars, I had to drive the cuda as my parts chaser today, and I will have to take it to work tomorrow.

I wish things could be easier sometimes, but at least its fun.

I Have had this happen to me while my Dailiy Driver was in but I absolutely hate driving the challenger to work. The only parking around is either on street with tons of truck traffic trying to get on the highway or in the tightest underground parking lot ever that insists you leave your keys so they can shuffle cars during the day. No way, no how not gonna happen.

Always good to have an extra car hanging out.   :grinyes:

The dealer was going to only give $1000 for trading in our 2000 Honda Odyssey so e said forget it.  We took off any insurance we didn't need and I use it as a work van, still runs great.  :)

Glad no one was hurt. Would highly recommend that vehicles receive frequent checks of all suspension components to prevent accidents.

Jason, is the tie rod end one of the inner or outer types on that Saturn? Got all the pieces you need? I've got a really good connection at Hot Spot for parts lately if it'd save you some dough. Ian

Well, little more heat and a bunch of liquid wrench, and a whole lot of force and the TRE finally came off.

Car is all back together and will be off for an alignment this morning.

Thanks for the offer Ian.
