New Here- Any Help Appreciated
« on: October 10, 2013 - 06:33:43 PM »
Hi, I purchased a 1970 V-Code 'Cuda from a family member and look forward to putting it back together. I guess you could call it a barn find as it was in his barn for the past 30 years and has not seen the road since the 80's. He had it repainted back then and never found the time to put it back together and sold it to me. It is missing the original engine and apparently from what he understood- it was replaced under warranty and it has an unstamped "S" block. I don't know how to verify if this is true and if the original block is still around, the car apparently was sold new in Quebec, Canada. I know it's like looking for a needle in a haystack but thought I would try to track it down or learn more about it's history and not sure how to. It is a B5 blue on blue six pack, 4-speed shaker car with track pack and the fender tag is still intact but missing broadcast sheet. The car's original 4-speed trans was swapped out at some time as well and would like to track it down. The Vin# is BS23V...00
Any info, tips or resources on trying to track down these parts or history of the car would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

That is quite the story.
I'm sure you at least have a chance of finding it.
Good luck!

Got any pics?  Would love to see them.

Welcome, slap shot!

Sounds like a really cool car you have!

The only questions I have is that if the original block was replaced by a warranty block, what did the dealer do with the engine they took out of the car?  :clueless:  Did they rebuild them or toss them?

Not sure about big blocks but small blocks have an ID pad on the passenger side, just above the oil pan, mid length down the block that'll have a partial VIN number stamped there.

Welcome Slapshot. Do you live in Quebec ? If so I would start by asking around some of the better known vendors from that area of Canada.  A lot of the guys have been into Mopars since there was Mopars...

I would talk to Sylvain at SMS http://smsautoclassic.com/sms/home/

or

Sylvain at 71SG.com http://www.71sg.com/index.html for starters.
I've taught you everything you know.....but I haven't taught you everything I know !
