New/old 70 Challenger owner from CT here. In the mid-late 70s, I had a burnt orange SE with white vinyl top which we drove away from our wedding. Made the mistake of selling it many years ago and have since dabbled with other muscle cars of the era.

In an amazing set of circumstances driven by our old wedding photos and a discussion over dinner on our anniversary this year, I found a replacement when I didn’t even know I was looking to buy.

I now own a 70 Challenger L code convertible survivor with 64,000 actual miles that had been in storage for most of the last two decades – in original burnt orange/burnt orange. Car is heavily optioned and intact. Fully numbers matching with fender tag and build sheet still in place. Some rust but structurally sound.

Wife is delighted as she has never forgiven me for selling the SE. Having a spouse bought into a car project is going to be a huge benefit, as you might imagine.

Very much looking forward to getting it cleaned up and will be scrounging around for miscellaneous parts in the process. Have enjoyed reading the archives here and learning/relearning.

WELCOME
Nice looking convertible you have, it looks to have some extra options than normal. Is it a two fender tag option car ?
Love the Burnt Oarange on Burnt Orange look, very nice place to be and not that much to clean up by the looks. :2thumbs: good score

Thank you all for the welcome. It is a one-fender tag car, but appears to be well optioned for a base. Power locks, windows, brakes and top, cruise, fender mount turn signals, buckets, side mouldings...

There is some rust in the normal places to take care of, but the color hides it well! I will also need to get the door panels re-skinned. Any recommendations on that?

Speaking of color, I found an earlier post that showed the production numbers by model, engine and transmission. Is there further detail further broken down by color? Of the ~211 JH27L0B cars made, burnt orange has to be considerably less. For us, that color is very important given our earlier car.

Power Locks ?

Yes, sorry, forgot to mention locks. Any feel for the relative rarity of the power options?

Welcome!

I'd redye those panels instead of skin them.

More pics!!

I don't think there are any number break downs for the color combinations.

OK, then. I went by what the seller told me. I didn't go out to the car to look. My mistake.
