I can't take credit for my car's restoration, its restoration was done around 20 years ago by its previous owner Dave Livingston. I bought the car from him in 1997 after looking off and on for 3 or 4 years for a Challenger convertible. I was aiming to find a decent 318 Challenger convertible that I could enjoy cruising around in, and not having much luck with my search. Dave answered a wanted ad I ran in MCG and his car was over my planned budget and a better car than I had in mind, but I decided to buy it and have never regretted that decision at all, best money I ever spent in my life!!
He did include a photo album of the car when he was restoring it, it wasn't a rust bucket, some rust holes in a few spots but not bad. He wanted to use base coat clear coat paint and at the time no one offered FK5 in 2 stage, so he used a very similar color from an early 80's Chrysler. In the sun it looks a bit too orange and a bit too little brown but all in all pretty close. Never had anyone come up to me at a show or cruise questioning the color! I've won a number of trophies and plaques with it over the years and it was the August car in the 2008 cuda Challenger.com calender.
Executive lease car with a lot of options like PW, AC, AMFM with 3 speaker dash, light group, several exterior trim options that gave you the pieces on SE cars like the tail light panel and top of doors/back of hood and fender trim.
Only downside I've had with the car is that it leaks alot, I call it the Exxon Valdez! But now its getting pretty bad so I am changing the name to Deepwater Horizon! I am trying to put together a plan to refresh the engine, redo all the seals and gaskets to stop the leaking, clean it up, repaint it (the engine) and detail it. Dave never put the AC back on when he restored it, so I would do that with my refresh project. Clean up and detail under the hood, other odds and ends. I have a T/A Challenger that has been in restoration for years and I moved it to a new shop (Magnum formerly known as "Blue Star") earlier this year to get things back on track with that car, so my car budget is pretty tied up with that, but I desperately want to figure out a way to do my refresh project on my vert. Out of my 4 Challengers, it is by far my favorite car to drive when the weather is nice!!!
