Ethanol disposal
« on: October 15, 2013 - 06:23:16 PM »
So, I have about 20 gallons of Ethanol that I have removed from my 67 barracuda.
I need to get rid of it and don't know what is safe.
It's mostly alcohol, can I pour it in the alley?
Or is there a way I should be disposing of this?
Will Ethanol work in molatove cocktails?

Why do you have that much ethanol ?  Do you mean E10 gasoline (10%max ethanol) ?  If so, put it in your primary car and use it.

E85.

My tank in the a body is a 42 gallon tank.
So there is about 20 gallons in it now.

Can I really just put it in my truck?
It has sat for about a year in the garage.

42 gallon tank?  In a car?   WOW. Around here I see the E85 pumps and it says max of 51% ethanol. I'd be afraid to
run it in my truck. Use it for a bon fire.  :clapping:   And get out the wieners and marshmallows.
If I cant fix it, it's broke

it probably has a lot of water in it. I would probably burn it or like someone said, use it as a weed killer or in a bonfire.
Be careful with it though
Most of it would evaporate anyway.

E85 is called E85 for a reason- it's supposed to be 85% alky and 15% gas, so find a buddy with a newer vehicle that's marked for flex fuel and give it to him. The water is a concern as is phase separation, but you can buy an additive to prevent that. Watch that marshmallow fire thing, cause alky burns nearly invisibly in the sunlight. Have fun!

Do you know anyone with a waste oil heater in their garage?  I have one and it LOVES gas, tranny fluid, brake fluid etc.  Someone will thank you for the free (or not so free depending on your generosity) heat.
Yes I own a 1972 Dodge Challenger Convertible T/A S/E with a 440 Six Pak. Can it get any more wrong?
