T/A and AAR radiator
« on: October 16, 2013 - 08:10:07 PM »
Is an original 974 radiator 2 row or 3 row core? I know Glen-Ray licensed radiators are 3 row but wanted to see if someone had an original.

I talked to Bob at Glen-ray radiator this afternoon and he said an original 974 was a 2-row core. He restores with either a 2-row or 3-row core whichever the customer wants. His licensed reproductions are 3-row cores.

I can't get over the price of those.  Are they twice as good as Cool Craft?

Find a use 974 for a few hundred and take it to a local radiator shop.  My local shop- re-cores them for about $300 to $400 with 3 rows and they are originals and better than new for about half what Glen Ray charges.
The funniest thing about this particular signature is that by the time you realize it doesn't say anything it's to late to stop reading it.

I found a 974 yesterday at a local yard .It was in a '70 b-body 318 a/c. The tank is in perfect shape and the core is a 2-row. That's why my previous post. I didn't know if an original was 2 or 3 row core. This one has been recored and I took it to my local radiator shop and it tested fine. He is going to vat it and clean it up. The best part is I paid $40. It has large font numbers so it will be correct. My lucky day.

Yep...That's a good find, even if you do have to re-core it :clapping:
