Completely clueless

I'm looking for help in choosing a sound system for my cuda. I have a 3 speaker dash and want decent sound. Don't want to break the bank
by any means. I've read that a component system gets the best sound for the money. How to choose an amp, head unit,and
speakers to match? Any input would be appreciated. Thanks

On the economy side of head units I put this Digital Media Receiver in my daughters car a couple of years ago

It has very good sound & radio reception, better than a similar Sony I have in another car..If you don't need to play CD's, do want to connect an iPod or thumb drive or use a bluetooth device it's a good deal.
It will readily support two amps but for the size speakers going in your dash the radio should have enough power on it's on. It does not have a sub woofer channel but I think with a little engineering one of the preamp outputs would work if not using more than one amp for your other speakers

We traded cars & I removed it when less than a year old....It's yours if you will use it.   

It has harness adapter for an 01 Sebring I put on it, you could get a reverse harness adapter to build a harness for your car so the radio would be plug & play(no soldering while laying in the floorboard)

For a low powered system it seems that the Infinity lines do well. Here is a comparison of three 6x9 models, the Alpine in the middle would be my choice.
I'm running a larger amp so these are not what I went with

just looking at the higher customer ratings in a 2-channel for the rear speakers vs price/power I would go with the M-2250

I have some experience with this as both of my cars have systems . . . . I guess just need to know if I can use the truck area or not?      Are you thinking subwoofer?

i trust Pioneer for stereo units...

i have a lower end unit in my challenger which i picked up from best buy during black friday for $100 which came with 2 sets of speakers 2 of which im using in the car.

even the cheapest pioneer unit with last.

Alpine has failed on me before.

For the center speaker didn't some one do a set up so the center speaker was actually 2 smaller speakers?  Something about that size speaker is hard to find?

There are dual speakers on the market to fit the 5X7 opening but I question whether they will fit an e-body, I made my own and had to offset the rh speaker to clear underside works.
In my system the little center speakers are not loud enough to be heard over the kick panel 5.25" speakers so I wouldn't bother doing it again.

I actually had to grind out a little of the dash frame to get a decent speaker in there and make it work!

Get a good component speaker system for the front, two tweeters in the center speeker and the mids in the kick panels.

This is kinda what I had read about. I just don't know anything about channels and amps and ohms and all of the other
stuff that goes with it. I guess I should do some reading about all of this stuff. I will definitely hit you guys up for
more information as the time comes. I am about ready to put my dash in place and was thinking that having the
speakers installed first is a good idea?  A whole lot easier? The windshield is still out.

I probably would install the speakers in the dash first but really with the windshield out still . . . Would not be difficult to wait . . . IMO.
