Mine is under the dash, inside the car, on pass side. Nice and cool there. I put as much engine bay
electrical stuff on firewall under dash as possible, like starter solenoid, volt reg, etc. I did remove
the heater box, so there is more room. And without heater box, cold air blows right on electronics, from
the cowl intake.

Mine is in the stock ecu location, but under the battery tray is where it is likely to end up this winter.

Would the length of the wires from the dist to the msd be a problem with the msd in the battery area?

Nope,  I mounted mine under the dash on the driveside.  One year in, no issues,

Ya, I think electricity is supposed to travel near the speed of light.  Extra wire length will just give you
a tad more electrical resistance, and more opportunity for electrical interference, but should not be a problem
for those wires.

I have my MSD streetfire box in the trunk. I used to have a summit racing CDI box at the passenger floor under the heater box the but the buzzing noise made me crazy and my wife was complaining that it made difficult to keep her legs comfortably. I used high quality wires to lenghten the wires for the MSD and mounted the box to the trunk lid support. I routed the wires quite carefully so that the wires that have "bang" going on are away from the feed cables and so on. Zero problems so far. If you have the battery in the trunk as I have then I would say that the trunk is the best place to have the box if you want a clean installation in a dry and cool location. Also accessing the rev limiter dial is more than easy.

I will take a pic tonight and post it here.
