Need Milidon dipstick advice

My stock dipstick hits the baffle on my new Milidon 30940 8 qt oil pan. Do I need to buy a specific dipstick? Or, modify the old stock one?

I would just modify the old one so it will clear the baffle , often a simple bend in the end of the dipstick will get it by the baffle OK . No matter what pan you use the upper lever is basically the same , usually about 1/4 or so below the windage tray

if you put in 8 quarts, and 1/3 quart for filter, that is your new high fill spot for your dipstick, no matter where
it is on the dip stick.

thanks. i have a filter reloc kit to that adds another 2qts. any ideas how far down i should bend the dipstick? which direction should i bend it? are you saying the high mark is my new "spot on" full line?

so, sounds like 10.3 quarts is the max amount of oil you want in there, though I will
 run a quart low to help minimize windage oil losses on the crank. So, once you get the dip
stick in, regardless of how you bend it, you can make two new marks on the stick to show your
high oil level, both when cold and hot. I run 0-wt30 full synthetic in my 496 street car.  You can even
check level first with 9.3 quarts in, to mark your low level point.

As far as bending, I would just keep bending till something works. Dip sticks are cheap.

Just bend the tip , last 1/2 inch or so maybe 30 * & try it both ways to see if ti will slide in .
the high point on the dip stick will remain the same , no matter how deep the pan is you still do not want the oil too close to the crank

I suspect that by running one quart of oil low, you might free up 10 or so horsepower,
due to less oil accumulation on the crank at higher rpms.
I know that GM would do that when running baseline hp testing of their engines that would
be featured in car magazines in the sixties.

but, with that much oil, you can extend the period between changes

I had a widened pan on my 440 duster , 11 in the pan & 1 in the filter , never had an oiling problem even with the wheels in the air

will or do i need to notch the k-member? I got it installed and it's tight. do i need clearance on for any motor movement?

If the pan is already in with oil, any suggestions on removing some of the k member? Use a dremil with a metal grinder bit?
