Help, crack wire harness connector and map light question

Ok, guys,  I got my new dash harness from Year One.  Asked for advice on this site before beginning.   I took my time, made notes and all has been going well.....until I went to connect the harness from the column to the new harness.  The column has two harnesses coming out at the bottom.  When I went to connect the smaller of the two it split in half exposing a thick red wire. (quite brittle)  I know little about electricity or wiring but "thick red wire" = important connection.   So, I've been checking on the web but have not come across any column wire harnesses.  Any suggestions in the mean time?  Is there any one who makes repo connectors for these cars?

One other question.  I have a map light and switch but no harness for this.   Does this have a separate harness and if so where does it plug into the dash harness?  The PO may have gotten rid of or lost it.   I have another extra connector on the new dash harness and maybe it plugs in there....perhaps? 

Any info or advice is appreciated.

Thanks Azdan, that helps a lot, but I have a question.   Does that plug go to the lamp or switch?  I'm assuming since it connects to the three wire red plug that this is where it gets its power.  What goes from the switch to the lamp?  Do you have a pic of that?

Sorry, disregard the last post.  I see now that it is plugged into the lamp and the free end goes to the switch.  I'm I correct?   Wasn't paying attention.

If you replace the ignition switch it comes with the new harness and connector.

Yes the switch goes to the plug.
