Well I really don't know as I have a 71. I don't have the grille or any of the front components except for the radiator support I am wondering myself. I was looking for a hood latch support bracket when I found this. I anticipated that I needed just the grille/hl bezels, and the hood latch support and top plate and it would be complete. It looks like I need this piece too. Which appears troublesome as that is the only one I have ever seen for sale.

Would you mind taking some pictures of the hood latch support area on your 71? I really have no idea what it even looks like to begin to source parts myself lol. At least knowing what goes there would help me know what I need to look for to buy.

On an aside I did this this guy http://images.craigslist.org/00a0a_bYhFvMQxyBp_600x450.jpg

he doesn't have that piece...

neither does this guy.

So I am wondering if maybe the 70's didn't have it, while the 71's did because of the different shaped grille?

The piece in question is only for 1971.  1970 had a lot more open space between the grille and rad support, and there are some small stamped brackets that are used to locate & support the 'eggcrate' of the '70 grille.

IIRC someone now reproduces the '70 brackets.
