Alternator 1 wire vs 2 wire...
« on: October 25, 2013 - 04:07:41 PM »
Okay...This could be a simple question...Not sure....

A customer supplied an aftermarket chrome alternator for his car, .except he messed up and ordered a "1 wire" set up-up.

It looks like the standard 2 wire "square back" Chrysler alternator but it looks like they added an external regulator and a couple of wires pluged into where the wire harness usually plugs into on a two wire set-up.

Can I simply remove that regulator and wires and run it as a 2-wire set-up ?

I would say yes , if the two brushes are still connected to the field terminals I& the diodes are connected as per factory it should work properly
