Looking for some advice on fixing the rear window channel. It has a few pin holes. Would it be better to fill them with weld or do a patch?
Also what about the quarter to roof seams? They are of course cracked on both sides and have been bondoed by one of the previous owners. I don't exactly know how bad as I haven't sand blasted the car yet. What is everyone doing to fix that problem? I figured I would weld them and use flat bar and weld that as well and then a thin layer of a filler?
What is everyone's favorite product for filler these days?
If it only has some pin holes, I would take a flat piece of copper and keep it under the pinholes and weld the holes shut with a mig. The copper helps to transfer some heat and also works as a "mold" under the hole so the filling does not become unwanted enlarging so easily.
I had to make some patches to the quarter to roof seam and then applied some lead to fill up the deepest areas and a light coat of filler on top of it.
I cannot comment on the filler because we most likely have different filler brands here in Finland than in US. I did try out about 5 different brands and the best for me was brand called "Autoseal" or something like that. I also used fiberglass reinforced filler on some areas that needed bit heavier coat and are subject to vibrations etc.
