Interior cloth id?
« on: November 02, 2013 - 12:28:13 AM »
I found this picture on google and fell in love. Can anyone tell me if this is a factory seat cover option, or is it something custom?

The Orange and Black Houndstooth seat inserts (Cloth) were available with a full Orange interior (Orange vinyl seats) , i have never seen or heard of Orange and Black Houndstooth inserts with Black vinyl seats. I would say that this is something that someone has had made up, but they stuck with Challenger/Barracuda materials and pulled off the look really well. This is something that Legendary Interiors would do for you if you were to order from them, it is a very nice look that should have been offered new from the factory :2thumbs:

Yes that is a 100% factory correct appearing set-up ! You could get orange/black material with black vinyl as shown in the picture in 1971 B Bodies, etc..., and as far as E Bodies are concerned it was available in the 1971 Dodge Challenger only, but more of a orange plaid then houndstooth.

I agree that the seats you pictured are possibly custom made because they appear to be a  1970 Plymouth Barracuda seat pattern which were never available with that combination.

Yes, the car pictured is a 70 AAR. Not sure if I'll do it, but I think it sure looks cool!

As Alan said 71 has a different pattern cloth (plaid), but what you pictured is correct 70 cloth (Houndstooth), not avaialble in 70 orange cloth in black vinyl seats, but like Alan said, that colour combo was available in 71 :2thumbs:

You say Dodge.  Is this something that was different for Plymouth and Chrysler?
Did Plymouth and Chrysler have similar options?

This is another odd ball interior combo that popped up on the old google images search. I assume this is also a custom setup?

That is a factory original Orange 1971 cloth insert / vinyl interior, the real McCoy.

Yes, that is correct. It was like a replacement for Red as a 1970 only colour for that year kind of thing. But you do have the Burnt Orange interiors that are correct for 1970 and they do look amazing too, you can get a solid Burnt Orange vinyl or a cloth insert in the burt orange also.
This would be a safe choice to go with your Orange AAR clone you are wanting to build, Orange on Orange always looks killer :2thumbs:
