While not an AAR, a fellow where I grew up had a T5 T/A. He was the second owner that bought it in 1971 from the original owner. He drove it until 1975 or 1976 ( one or the other) and then parked it in his backyard. It sat for 24 years unprotected on a grass yard. He never would sell it and it just went away. I know the guy that got it when he moved in 1999. The shell was unsalvageable. The hood/engine/tranny/rear were saved, but what a waste.
Then there's the 1969 GTs, 1969 Swinger, 1969 6pack bee, 1969 runner, 1968 GTX that just rotted away after being parked. These were cars I watched firsthand rot.
And the ex-Chrysler mechanic that has/had a complete shaker setup for a 1970 Challenger. A customer bought a 1970 Hemi Challenger and it came in with a Rallye hood. When the shaker stuff became available he ordered everything from the books. Everything - from baseplate, doors, hood, bubble, cables, every part listed in the books!!! Before it all came in he sold the car. The entire setup sat in the dealer parts department for years until one of the mechanics bought it for a song - just to get it out from underfoot. He has/had the whole thing in a garden shed for years. Now he never ever had a Challenger, nor will he probably ever have one, but I and several others tried for many years to buy it from him. No amount of money could get it from him. Even ridiculous offers were turned down. I haven't tried in at least 10 years and couldn't say if it or him are still around, but it was a shame.
