70 Cuda Lower Quarter Panel Repair
« on: November 04, 2013 - 06:47:51 PM »
Well I ordered the lower quarter rear patch panels (AMD brand) for my cuda from Jegs on Friday and I was just informed they are discontinued and not avaliable.  :swear: I really liked those patch panels because they were specifically for 1970 and 71 models.

It appears the only options I have are the Goodmark lower patch panels but these are for 72-74 cars so the body shop will have to graft in my 70 marker lights into these panels.  The only other option I can see is to buy the whole 70 cuda quarter skins but I don't want to go this route as it will be way more expensive just to throw away 75% of the sheet metal.

Right now it looks like I have to go the Goodmark route but seeing if anyone has any better ideas on this.

Also, has anyone used these Goodmark patch panels?  If so, what was your experence?

-Thanks

Classic Industries has them.  Page 296 in their catalog.  I don't know who manufactures them but when I ordered the dog leg repair panel for my fender, it was AMD.  I also ordered some braces from them and they were AMD.  They have a sale now if you want to save some dough.  I used Goodmark full quarter and a patch panel.  I would say they were ok.  Everyone says the AMD stuff is better but I had nothing to compare to so I can't give you a definite answer.  The patch panel was slightly different in contour to the full quarter.  Right at the fender lip.  I had to shape it myself some.

Thanks, Edison.  I just checked Classic Industries website and they do not show up on their website.  My guess is they are out of stock as well.  I just checked ebay and found a retailer who has them for about $10 more then what Jegs wanted for them.  I placed the order, we will see if they actually ship.

I purchased the goodmark lower repair panel, but I don`t think it had the sidemarker cut out.  It fit like crap and found its way to my scrap pile. I ended up building an english wheel and making the panel myself.

Thanks for the feedback Dutch, good to know.  I'm keeping my fingers crossed the AMD patch panels I bought last night will actually ship.
