    Floor pan mod for new seats and fitment

    Picked up a set of seats from a 2010 Chally. Being 6'4" and longer in my torso than legs I do not fit well into many cars. Headroom issue. I needed 37" of headroom. By lowering the pan where the seat sit we got 39" leaving enough for a the headliner. I know it looks odd the way it sits however it is comfortable and my legs are not flat out. The seat is currently in the lowest position and a far forward as it will go. This modification now creates an exhaust issue as the lowered pan now blocks the normal exhaust route. Routing the exhaust under the pan will place it to low to the ground. Thinking about side pipes like the newer vipers or doing something like a flat pipe if possible.

    Freakin nice work, I'm between 6'4'' and 6'5'' but currently shrinking due to age.

    Gives me some ideas down the road.

    I have the same seats. What are you going to do about re-enforcing the mounting spots and did you cut out the seat belt mount?

    How high will it be when your in it?  As you mentioned it looks like your legs would be laying flat or even upward as it sits?

    I do not think it looks odd at all, i thnk it looks functional to do the job that is required for a taller person to be comfortable. Good for you to make the decision to lower the floor pan in a way that looks so neat and yet be so functional :2thumbs: nice work :bigshades:

    [/quote  ] Looks good.. :thumbsup:  Oh Yeah, Your gonna have a issue with your exhaust alright. You will have to modify the floor pan on the inner area near the tranny tunnel. Thats what I had to do.Oval pipes will only give you 3/4 to 1 inch ground clearance at most. You should mock up your exhaust before you finish the car, you may be in for a suprise if you don,t  :banghead:

    It is not that of a big deal, can you flip the seat over and post a picture, as i am thinking that the seat runners hang down pretty far to allow the seat to slide forward and back, you can always run a half tube shaped tunnel under each seat to run the exhaust under for ground clearance. Have a lokok and get back to us :popcorn: :2thumbs: :bigsmile:

     I didnt modify my seat area , and I still had to modify the pan for 3 in exhaust. It also depends on how you have your driveline angle set too.

       Tim Ross the owner of Ross Restorations in Crystal Springs MS. is doing this work. To help secure the seats he will add a flat bar to the bottom of the pan as an additional mounting point. Yes the seat belt mounts were cut out and will be redone.

         First let me say I am a huge fan of your build and have gotten some great ideas from it. I would love to be able to do the fabrication work myself but life has not led me that way. I intend on doing a full mock up before going to paint. This work I will endeavor to do myself. I plan on running a 3rd gen hemi with a Nag 5-speed trans. For the suspension it will be RMS front and rear.

    I would like to see all the pics of your build and perhaps bounce ideas off of you as well.

    No Problem  here is the link http://s1187.photobucket.com/user/customachinecomponents/library/71%20Cuda%20Pro-Touring%20Build?sort=3&page=1    I am assuming you will probably use TTI headers for your hemi. The collectors exit a few inches where the pan hangs down like you have in picture 2. You will have to look at that area. I'm pretty sure you might have to do some mods there.The TTI 3 inch exhaust is designed around the RMS Street Lynx suspension so if you go that route the head pipes or the floor will need some mods.     Same here, but for some reason I am bulging in the middle as I shrink!

    That revised floorplan looks great, gives me some ideas. thanks.
